Yelena Yemchuk was born in Kiev, Ukraine. She first became interested in photography at the age of 14. At the beginning of 1990’s, she specialized in ‘Fine Arts and Graphic’ at the Parsons School of Design in NY.

She began her photographic odyssey with ‘Smashing Pumpkins’ after she met Billy Corgan. She also played the role of the beautiful Salome (2000) in their video for ‘Stand Inside Your Love’.
